Herbivore Themed Pieces

Fruits and vegetables are so colorful and their shapes so varied. I find them charming in groupings. These pieces include plates, bowls, pitchers and lidded jars.

I use a modified Majolica technique in layering underglazes on the clay work. Some of the pieces are carved first before the various glazes are applied.

This process is done when the piece is leather hard using small sculpting and carving tools. It gives the pottery more dimension and texture.
